On November 5th, step into the creative world of Pixar with Bill Wise, a key figure in shaping the studio’s signature visual style and technological breakthroughs. Through two thematic sessions, Bill will share insights from his remarkable career, spanning from the early days of digital animation to his work on some of Pixar’s most beloved films.
This masterclass chronicles a 40 year personal journey - from growing up in Kentucky, to studying Painting at Indiana University, and then to Pixar in it’s earliest days. Bill shares how his artistic and technical skills came into play on early projects such as Toy Story, For the Birds and the Incredibles, and Finding Dory. In addition to the personal, the talk interweaves the growth and changes at one of the most influential animation studios of the modern era, as well as some of the amazing artists that made it happen.
This talk gives an in-depth technical discussion of the character development process at Pixar. It chronicles the evolution from early concept during the story process, to pre-production design and then through the technical execution of the final film assets. The 3D modeling, rigging, simulation and texturing processes are discussed - as well a discussion of Pixar’s unique toolsets and pipelines.
