Directors’ Deep Dive - Mini-MFA in Methodical Directing

Directors' Deep Dive is an exclusive in-depth exploration program for established film directors seeking profound reflection on their artistic practice and a strategic plan for further development. The program consists of an intensive stay at Dallund Castle with seven other directors, and a follow-up workshop at the Danish Film School with producer partners.

The program recognizes the personal work approach where method, material, and creator are inseparably connected. You will have the opportunity for individual consultation and feedback on the use of new methods.

Methodical approach:
Through 'Process Mapping' we analyze the specific process behind one of your previous works, providing insight into your methods, strengths, and development potentials. This knowledge is shared with the other participants and then applied to a new project in an early phase, with a focus on maximizing your artistic ambition.

Innovative tools:
The program introduces additional concrete tools for your directing practice. Including AI-supported previsualization and rapid sketching to explore cinematic language possibilities.

About the Mini-MFA format:
The Mini-MFA refers to a mini version of the Master of Fine Arts. The school has previously offered longer course formats in the form of MiniMBAs and is now taking artistic development to a higher level with this longform and in-depth format. The course has been developed with the aim of contributing to deep learning and further development in the industry, which has been in high demand.

The course will be taught in English.
